Wiley Auch
Director
Mr. Auch joined the board of directors on October 5, 2006, and serves as Chair of the Compensation and Environment, Health & Safety Committee. Mr. Auch is a Chartered Accountant with extensive corporate finance, financial reporting, treasury, tax, and planning experience at a senior management level. He was the Chief Financial Officer of Longbow Capital Inc. a Calgary-based private equity firm, from 2010 until his retirement in 2019. From 2007 to 2009 he was Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of BlackWatch Energy Services, a publicly traded oilfield services company. From 2003 until 2007, he was Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Gibraltar Exploration Ltd., a private natural gas exploration and production company. Mr. Auch also served as a financial advisor to Enron Canada during its liquidation between March 2002 and March 2004. He was Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of FirstEnergy Capital Corp. from 1993 to 2001. Prior to 1993, Mr. Auch was with Price Waterhouse, Chartered Accountants.
M. Bruce Chernoff
Chair
Mr. Chernoff joined the board of directors on March 31, 2005. Mr. Chernoff is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University. Mr. Chernoff has been the President of Caribou Capital Corp., a private investment company, since 1999 and was the Chairman and Founder of Harvest Energy Trust. Mr. Chernoff is also a director of several other public and private entities.
Michael Mayder
Director
Mr. Mayder joined the Board of Directors on May 27, 2021 and was appointed Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee on August 10, 2023. Mr. Mayder has an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary and has over thirty years of finance, accounting and business development experience in the power industry. He began his career with the City of Calgary, which then incorporated its electrical department into ENMAX Corporation, where Mr. Mayder led progressively more senior roles including Director of Finance, Treasurer and Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Mayder then joined MAXIM in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer and retired from his role of President and Chief Financial Officer on June 30, 2020.
Brad Wall
Director
Mr. Wall joined the board of directors on May 13, 2019. Mr. Wall graduated with honours from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration. Mr. Wall has 18 years political experience and served as the Premier of Saskatchewan November 2007 until February 2018. During his tenure Mr. Wall helped lead the province through a period of strong population and economic growth, export expansion, record infrastructure investment and tax reductions while helping to earn the province’s first ever AAA credit rating. Mr. Wall currently has his own consultancy business based in Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan as well as acting as a Special Advisor for a Calgary based law firm. Mr. Wall is also a director of several other public and private entities.
Andrea Whyte
Director
Ms. Whyte joined the board of directors on June 14, 2022. Ms. Whyte has a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and an LLB (with distinction) from the University of Alberta. Ms. Whyte is currently a corporate partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP where she has been practicing law for over 20 years in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate governance. Ms. Whyte is also a director of several other private entities.
W. Brett Wilson
Vice Chair
Mr. Wilson joined the board of directors on March 31, 2005. He completed a BSc (Eng) in 1979 and an MBA in 1985. He worked as a petroleum engineer with Imperial Oil before transitioning to a more than 20 year career as a investment banker. He co-founded FirstEnergy Capital Corp in 1993 where he participated in many billions of energy focused financing and mergers/acquisition assignments until retiring in 2008. Since then, he has actively invested in a variety of industries – from farmland to power, from cannabis to sports teams – and more – while actively engaging in community activities in a variety of ways. His work as a entrepreneur with a deep social conscience earned him admission to the Order of Canada in 2011.
